HiRoad - Product Design
Creative Direction / Principle Design

The Client:
Located in San Francisco CA, HiRoad (an affiliate of State Farm) is a next generation InsurTech venture poised to rethink and reengineer the insurance industry, while helping people live longer and lead more fulfilling lives.

Goal for the project:
To provide customers with a tool to help them learn safer driving habits, save on their insurance premiums and make the roads a safer place.

Our challenge:
Launched in Providence Rhode Island we used telemetric data from our customers mobile devices to measure braking, acceleration, speed and cornering. This data helped HiRoad to observe customer driving patterns and behaviors.

Our challenge was to create an app experience that provided customers with real-time feedback, ways to make driving behavior changes, while limiting the confusion that comes with understanding insurance details like premium rates and driver discounts.

My role:
After establishing the HiRoad brand, my role as Principal Product Designer was to focus on user brand application, interface design and prototyping.

Collaborating with another ux-focused designer, we created the first mvp of the app using a heuristic design approach. This allowed us to release the app early to our customers for in-the-field evaluation and user testing.
